Cooper University Hospital

Cooper University Hospital is the flagship of The Cooper Health System. It is the premier university hospital serving South Jersey and the Delaware Valley. Cooper is renowned for Signature Programs in cardiology, cancer, critical care, trauma, orthopedics and neurology. The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper is the only state designated children’s hospital in South Jersey with more than 25 pediatric specialties.

Cooper University Hospital has been an anchor institution in the City of Camden and the Cooper Lanning neighborhood for more than a century. Cooper is in the final stages of a $600 million expansion of its Camden Health Sciences Campus - including a $220 million patient Pavilion which opened in 2008. Cooper’s commitment to the City and the Cooper Lanning neighborhood is long term and is expanding its role as a leader in medical education and research with the partnership with Rowan University to create the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

Cooper Hospital has implemented the Cooper Employer-Assisted Housing Program to provide additional resources for Cooper employees looking to purchase a home in the Cooper Plaza or Lanning Square neighborhoods in Camden, NJ.

Program Details

Employees purchasing a home in either the Cooper Plaza or Lanning Square neighborhood may be eligible for assistance from Cooper through the Cooper Employer-Assisted Housing Program. Cooper may support employees with $1,000 in housing assistance for the purchase of a home that will be used as a primary residence in the Cooper Plaza or Lanning Square neighborhoods. Assistance to employees is subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the Cooper Employer-Assisted Housing Program.
Below is an overview and summary only of the Cooper Employer-Assisted Housing Program:

  • Cooper may provide a $1,000 grant to a Cooper employee to be used toward the down payment and closing costs for the purchase of a home, subject to satisfaction of all eligibility and requirements of the Cooper Employer-Assisted Housing Program.
  • All benefits-eligible employees that have been employed with Cooper for at least twelve (12) months at the time of the request are eligible to submit an application for consideration.
  • Eligible properties must be located in the Cooper Plaza or Lanning Square neighborhoods of Camden, New Jersey.
  • Eligible properties include new and existing one-family units, new and existing condominium units, and existing 2-to 4-family unit properties.
  • The purchased property must remain occupied as the employee’s primary residence for at least twenty-four (24) months following closing/settlement.
  • There is no minimum or maximum purchase price requirement.
  • All interested employees must submit to Human Resources a completed Cooper Employer-Assisted Housing Application and Agreement, all requested documentation including proof of Mortgage pre-approval from a mortgage lender and an executed Agreement of Sale to be considered for the program.
  • Upon receipt of the completed Application, Human Resources will review and notify the employee if they are approved for the Program and notified of the next steps.
